My sock fetish developed mainly because I'm such a trainer fetishist. Socks are the perfect complement. I think I liked them since I was a teenager, but it was when I started going to the gym that I sexualised sports socks. In Spain, high socks have always been frowned upon, but in a sporting context, you saw a lot of high socks and I liked them. Now that they have become more popular, especially Nike socks, it is a pleasure to see them. I think initially my “sock fetish” was just an attraction, similar to being attracted to men in uniform, or guys in underwear…. Just some small detail that caught my eye. I think a lot of sock fetish begins because socks are something we can associate with sex before an age where sex is all about penis and hole. Just like underwear. We get to occasionally see guys socks or underwear growing up, more often than occasional glimpses of a man’s penis. Underwear and socks also can have an associated scent. I think this helps develop socks as a fetish. Scent is powerful in creating core memories.

I started taking photos and buying crew socks instead of the ankle socks I had worn for so long. I started thinking of it more, it all developed from then… 20 years ago.

Social media has had a big impact and influence on socks as a fetish. Before social media it was mostly happenstance…. You would hope to see a guys feet in socks, maybe get a hint of scent in the room when a guy took his shoes off… you would try to sneak and find a pair of a guys socks in their bathroom or laundry hamper or on their bedroom floor. It was fleeting and just luck. Maybe you could try to maneuver those moments into existence by requesting your friends take their shoes off when they came over, but still the exposure and opportunities were rare. I remember staying awake as a teenager, hoping my friend would fall asleep with his socks on… so I could nervously risk getting caught slowing creeping up to his socked feet while he was sleeping, just for a 1-2 second hint of the scent.

Even today I yearn for those happenstance opportunities. I hope my male friend will have a pair of socks somewhere I can sneak and sniff. I hope to see a guys feet in socks at a party or wherever.
