My first interest in socks was as ways to tie myself up – rugby socks from school, the cheap football socks from ebay – they were ideal.
As I got access to tape and rope that fell away.
In later life (now late 30’s) I discovered a new reason to love socks – odd though it may be, I pay guys to video call with them – just to chat, primarily, but also to have them show off some of their outfits… That developed over time, and with those willing and capable of showing them off, I started to spend 5-10 minutes staring at their trainers on their feet – camera on the floor – so I was at eye-level…
With those adept at showing them off, that soon became 15-20mins… Now, there are a few guys where the call starts, we say hello, catch up, and then it’s straight onto the floor, and I stay there for maybe an hour or so – just stating at their trainers/boots… Sometimes, they will let me see their socks too… But even if not, you can always see them poking out the top of their footwear, and when they have good taste in shoes, they usually have good taste in socks too.
For me, it is mainly about the footwear – but with increasing frequency – when someone can show them off well, it’s great to sit and stare at a pair of socks on someone’s feet too – seeing their toes move around inside them… It’s amazing! (and costs me a bloomin’ fortune!)
