For me the turn on is much more a tactile and visual thing, than smell or taste. A big part of it is about how sweaty (damp) the socks are and so the moment of shoe removal is incredibly arousing. If the sock is visibly sweaty or leaves a damp footprint on a cold surface I get instantly hard. Also the shape of the foot is quite important to me. Generally I prefer a broader foot with proportioned toes, and I like the foot inside the sock to feel strong and muscular. Indeed the size should be around EU 42-46.
I’d also add that another key arousal is the idea that some men can be embarrassed about having sweaty socks so imagined or role played scenarios that involve unexpected or enforced shoe-removal , perhaps in a shoe store or medical situation really appeal.
